Lyrics
Our fight is with weapons unseen
Your enemies crash to their knees
As we rise up in worship
When trials unleash like a flood
The battle belongs to our God
As we cry out in worship
The victory is Yours
You’re riding on the storm
Your name is unfailing
Though kingdoms rise and fall
Your throne withstands it all
Your name is unshaken
What hell meant to break me has failed
Now nothing will silence my praise
I will cry out in worship
The walls of the prison will shake
The chain-breaking King will rise to save
As we cry out in worship
The victory is Yours …
You roar like thunder
Nothing can tame
God, all-powerful, all-powerful
We pull down heaven
With shouts of praise
God, all-powerful, all-powerful
,em>The victory is yours …
My thoughts
We recently started singing this at our church, and I love it. I am especially drawn to the image of the Lord riding on the storm. I once heard about how an eagle doesn’t get tossed about in storms because it rises above them. Thinking of Jesus in this way reminds me of how all-powerful he is, and it also encourages me to allow him to help me ride above my own storms with his help.
I know there is victory in praise and worship. When I feel down, I blast Christian music through the house and soak up the words, knowing they contain truths my heart needs to be reminded of.
My favourite line in this song is “What hell meant to break me has failed.” I know that in Christ, all things in my life, good or bad, will work together for good, and Jesus will always have the victory.
