Psalm 46 opens with the beautiful words, “God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.” The word “Always” reassures us he doesn’t sometimes help, or only help when he chooses to. The help may not come in the way we desire or expect, but it always comes.

The Manna Is Enough.
Do you ever feel frustrated when you read about the behaviour and complaints of the Israelites during their wilderness wanderings, or is it just me? Today, my Bible In A Year took me to Exodus 16, where the people were… Guess what? Complaining! Not again, we cry! Only one month after their miraculous escape from Egypt, they bemoaned pots filled with meat and all the bread they could eat. (Exodus 16:3 NLT). Are they remembering Egypt through rose-tinted glasses? I would imagine so, since we know they were slaves working under harsh conditions of enforced labour.

Haven’t You Seen The Giant?
This morning, my Bible plan took me to 1Samuel 17. When I realised it was the well-known account of David and Goliath, I smiled, thinking it a strange reading for Good Friday.

Friend Of God by Rachel Yarworth
Last summer, I saw a request on a Facebook group for a beta reader. The lady in question was Rachel yarworth, and her book would eventually become Friend of God. I was privileged to become one of her beta readers, and I have championed the book ever since. Last week, Rachel and I had an online chat about all things writing.

A Friend In The Midst Of Our Pain.
What a friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear,
What a privilege to carry,
Everything to God in prayer
Oh, what peace we often forfeit,
Oh, what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry,
Everything to God in prayer.

A Call To Persevere
Have you ever started a Bible in a year with great enthusiasm in January, determined to drink in every detail of the scriptures, only to find in June or July that you are skimming over the words on the page without taking much in? Do you wonder why there are days when the Bible seems so full of meat, but there are other times when it seems like a dry and tasteless crust?

Walking In Jairus’s Sandals.
Walking In Jairus’s Sandals
This morning, I turned to a familiar story from the gospels. I was reading Mark chapter 5, but you can also find it in Matthew and Luke. It tells of a twelve-year-old girl being raised from the dead by Jesus. As I read it, I felt a familiar sense of warmth, because as a child, this was my favourite story.

Do You Have Enough Faith To Trust god? By Pastor Peter Norris
The topic for my devotional this time is, “Do you have enough faith to trust God?” If God were to ask you to do something that seemed immensely risky and seemingly contrary to what he had promised you, would you have enough faith, and believe in him to work it out?
