I have often heard it said that the darkest hour comes just before the dawn. I wondered once if this was a quote from the Bible, but I now realise it’s not. However, I saw this for myself in the natural when a close friend and I had the crazy idea of going back to our childhood and camping out in her garden overnight. It was mid-summer, so sunrise came early. We chose a warm night ideal for being outside. Yet an hour or so before the birds began their early morning song, a cold breeze started blowing, and the night sky seemed to be at its darkest. I would have to say this was the most eery part of the night, as I lay awake waiting for dawn. Then I saw the first glimmer of light, which seemed all the brighter and more hopeful given the darkness that had gone before. The first bird chirped, and a new day dawned – full of hope and promise. It has only been in the last few years that I have started noticing and appreciating such things, as I realise how many of god’s best lessons are taught through his marvellous creation.

If You Are Faced With A problem, By Pastor Peter Norris.
IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM, WHAT DO YOU DO?
The answer to such a question may be obvious, as for example, in the following statements. (to name a few)
A household appliance goes wrong – look at the manual or call a technician or a repair person.
You are seriously unwell – seek medical help.
Your car has broken down – contact a garage.

Do Unto Others.
During one of my earliest devotionals for this website, posted on 5 March 2019 under the title I Believe in The Resurrection, I told you all about a very special man called Jeffrey Durbin who spent much of his life struggling with a lack of faith. Yet, he lived out many of the qualities of the Christian walk far more thoroughly than I could ever hope to.

Darren’s Testimony.
I wish to thank Darren Reed, my friend and brother in Christ, for sharing this amazing testimony. I pray that his words will touch your hearts as powerfully as they have touched mine, as he gives glory to God for miraculously bringing him through an unimaginably difficult situation.
Sometimes as Christians, God gives us extremely difficult situations, so that we will see not only that He will get us through – that He is there, but to strengthen our faith. This testimony is my life example of the faith of God.

When The Lord Closes A Door.
When I was growing up, one of my favourite films was The Sound of Music. I think I watched it so much I could practically quote it word for word. Maybe I still could if I thought about it hard enough. One of the parts I liked best was when Maria left the convent – her safe place. All she’d ever wanted was to be a nun, and now she was being challenged with the possibility that perhaps this wasn’t god’s will for her after all. She begged to be allowed to remain but was firmly but lovingly pushed out of the nest by the reverend mother. And as she leaves the convent, she says: “When the Lord closes a door, somewhere he opens a window,” before launching into a rousing song about confidence.

The Perfect Christmas Gift, By Sarah tummey.
Have you ever opened a gift on Christmas Morning and thoroughly disliked it? True story: A friend and I swapped presents once. A fellow-classmate bought me … Well, it was shaped like a ball with sticky-up bits all around, and when you switched it on, it vibrated. I don’t mean just slightly; it jiggled about so much that if you put it on the floor, it would actually move. It was quite freaky, and my sister or my dad would put it in my chair when I was out of the room, so I’d come back in, sit on it and jump out of my skin! I wanted it out of the house as quickly as possible! She bought my friend a set of vanilla toiletries. My friend hates vanilla, so we swapped and all was well. To find that perfect Christmas gift, you need to get to know a person – their likes and dislikes. That’s why I think it’s so important to spend time with friends – because they’ll drop things into a conversation.

it Will Soon be Christmas, By Pastor Peter Norris.
My theme for this devotional is “It will soon be Christmas!”, and I’ll be talking about all the lights that we put up – in our houses, in our churches, and we see up and down our streets. So I just want to share with you my inspiration for this particular devotional.

Seen, Known, and Loved, By Miriam Corringham.
Our church has been heavily involved in the work of Operation Christmas child for many years. I wish to thank Miriam for writing this beautiful devotional.
Throughout the year we have been raising funds for Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes. Collecting items to go into the boxes, thinking of the children who would receive our boxes and now, after shopping trips, Packing Parties, having shoeboxes dropped off, collecting them from Schools and Churches in the area and cartoning them up ready for collection, our shoeboxes have started on their journey.

lessons From A Prison Cell.
The book of Acts is a pretty exciting read. Once God sent his Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost, his followers experienced miracles, healings, gifts of the Spirit, and many other fantastic manifestations of the living God present and moving amongst them.
