Check With The Saviour, By David Jenkins.

The following poem was written by a dear friend of mine, who has been a huge source of encouragement in my life.

Check With The Saviour By David Jenkins.

When I sat down to write in my comfortable chair,
It saddened me to find I had little to write and even less to compare.
For what was lacking when I rose from bed that night
Was, I had not spent time on my knees before starting to write.

A hurried prayer before rushing on my way
Was not sufficient time for me to listen what the Saviour had to say.
For time spent in the Saviour’s presence and love,
Allows wisdom to be imparted to us by the Holy Dove.

The gracious Lord was teaching me not to rush in haste,
Because man heading on his own way soon runs out of pace.
We must never take for granted that we have something to say,
Before we check with the Saviour that we’re doing it his way.

Praise the name of Jesus – my ever abiding friend.
Amen.

Proverbs 3 verses 5-6:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he shall direct your paths.”
